Field Trip FAQS

Frequently Asked Questions

We recommend wearing comfortable clothing suitable for walking around a farm. It is also important that you advise your group to dress for the weather. If there's a risk of rain, make sure to bring rain jackets and boots (the fields get muddy fast). Sunscreen and hats are recommended for sunny days because your group will be in open fields for some of the trip with limited shade.

Teachers should remember to bring cash/check/card for payment.

We suggest that students bring water bottles and weather appropriate clothing or accessories (rain boots, hats, coats, sunscreen, etc.)

For fall field trips- we suggest that each student bring a bag for their pumpkins.

The main area of our farm has cement or packed gravel. However, we are located on the side of a hill and some areas of the farm are bumpy or prone to becoming muddy. We have had many guests enjoy the farm with limited mobility.

Please note: our hayrides are not wheelchair accessible.

We have a minimum group size of 15. This includes students, chaperones, and teachers.

We have a maximum group size of 150 per time slot. If your group is larger than 150, you will need to book two consecutive timeslots. Please note that our hayrides can take up to 30 people at a time, so larger groups will need to be split up. We do suggest that large groups are divided into smaller groups to make it easier to navigate the stations.

We do not collect a deposit or charge a cancellation fee, so there is no need to worry if you must cancel a trip. We ask that you contact our office (office@plumperpumpkins.com or 503-645-9561) to let us know.

If the farm is closed for inclement weather or any other reason, we will contact all scheduled groups. We conduct our field trips rain or shine, and generally leave it up to the discretion of the groups if the weather poses too much of a risk.

If you need to cancel your field trip for any reason, you are welcome to contact the office to find a time to reschedule.

We plan for field trips lasting roughly 90 minutes, but the exact duration depends on you! The self-guided sections of our trips can be made longer or shorter depending on the interests of your group. You may also choose to stay for lunch/snack, or play in the activity areas for longer. Once your group has paid admission, you are welcome to stay as long as you'd like.
